Down Syndrome
Cute little girl
Do Down syndrome people need the Gospel?
This is a serious question.
In my website, HorseshoeCrabClub.com
I talk about people that withdraw from the mainstream of life.
While some people are naturally reclusive, others are pushed out of mainstream life by others.
Down syndrome families are prone to this.
I have two relatives who are Down syndrome.
One is a blood relative, the other is by marriage, my in-law had a DS sister.
She has since passed.
But when she was a child, the family used to go to church,
but quit going because of the shunning from other church folk.
This was so wrong but also so typical.
So, is it OK that DS people just stay at home and never hear about Jesus?
In the summer of 2024, I searched the internet, looking for an online Downs syndrome church,
one that was geared especially toward DS people. I found none.
So, do Down Syndrome people need the Gospel of Jesus Christ to enter heaven?
Yes or No?
If Yes, how many churches will declare this - that DS people need Jesus' blood too?
And if Yes, why is no one reaching out to them in a way that makes up for the rejection
that keeps DS families out of America's churches today?
I have an idea for a DS internet church.
If a crew came together, with scripts for three-segment presentations:
1. Greetings, exhortation and goodbye segments
2. Praise and worship segments
3. Preaching/teaching segments
Record nine such sets -
then divide and rearrange the segments.
There are 84 possible combinations,
enough for 19 months of weekly services.
A new combination each week,
yet enough familiarity to give DS folks a sense of security.
