God's Timing

14 years?
Matthew 1
17 Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David,
fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon,
and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah.
Think about this,
every human that knows God, has hopes and aspirations they petition Him for.
I imagine that those in the period-of-exile prayed diligently to 'get outta town'.
But it obviously didn't happen the way many of them prayed,
and certainly not in their time frame.
Why? What if... it was because God liked the number 14,
and decided that's how long the exile needed to last,
to let Him play with the numbers?
Is that Okay with you?
Why did it take 14 generations to get from Abraham to David?
This has to have more reason than the vagaries of mere human free will.
Did God pre-ordain things to last 14 generations to show His utter sovereignty
over all people and circumstances?
What do you think...is there a reasonable limit to God's sovereignty?
Many people seem to think so.
